UNESCO is strongly advocating the building of knowledge societies where the power of information and communication help people access the knowledge they need to improve their daily lives and achieve their full potential. In this context, information literacy has become crucially important, as a mean to empower people in all walks of life to seek, evaluate, use and create information effectively to achieve their personal, social, occupational and educational goals.

UNESCO grants for information for development success stories
UNESCO’s Information for All Programme (IFAP) wishes to encourage communities using information for development to share their success stories.
UNESCO’s Information for All Programme (IFAP) encourages communities using information for development to submit their success stories to the online platform where others could learn from them and adapt them to their own local situations. ปี 2550 มีผู้สมัครจากไทยเพียง 2 คน ปี 2551 นี้ ช่วยกันสมัครหน่อยนะคะ

คุณสมบัติของผู้สมัครโดยสังเขป คือ ทำงานวิชาชีพบรรณารักษศาสตร์และสารนิเทศศาสตร์ ต้องการพัฒนาความรู้ในวิชาชีพ อายุไม่เกิน 40 ปี(สำหรับทุนฝึกงาน) สามารถสื่อสารภาษาอังกฤษได้ในระดับดี

ตัวอย่างผู้ได้รับทุนเข้าฝึกงานในห้องสมุดที่สนใจ โดยเฉพาะแถบเอเชียและโอเชียเนีย

The main objectives of the Section are to initiate, promote and facilitate the development of library and information services and the library profession within the five sub-regions of Asia and Oceania: West Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia and Oceania. The Section works in cooperation with the other Regional Sections and all of IFLA's Sections and Core Activities, especially the Action for Development through Libraries Programme
