The fourth Shanghai International Library Forum (SILF) will be held on October 20~22, 2008 at the Shanghai Library.
SILF was initiated in 2002 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Shanghai Library and is convened at a biennial basis ever since. The forum provides a significant platform for information exchange among international libraries, and hence attracts IFLA senior officials, library directors at home and abroad, professionals and experts from the information sector, researchers and people from other fields for attendance. Five years passed and the forum has grown into a professional gathering with far-reaching impact and sparked worldwide concern within the library and information sector.
The forthcoming forum coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Institute of Scientific & Technical Information of Shanghai (1958-2008), adding festive flavors to the event. The Organizer is now extending warm welcome to domestic and overseas colleagues alike to jointly benefit from our keynote speeches, rewarding discussions and enlightening seminars, while celebrating meanwhile the steady development of Shanghaiกฏs information service.
The topic of this forum is กฐIntelligence, Innovation and Library Services. To facilitate in-depth discussions, subtopics are designed as follows:

II. Libraries 2.0 and Web2.0
III. Core Competence of Library and Its Professional Future
IV. Digital Gap and Responsibilities of Library
V. Digital Library and Cyberinfrastructure
It constitutes our great pleasure to invite scholars, researchers or managers of libraries or information institutions and the like from China and abroad to attend the conference either as speakers or as participants. Papers submitted shall be original research contributions or summaries of practical experience, which have not been published in any other periodicals or proceedings. Please submit the abstract of your paper to the Organizing Committee of SILF 2008 prior to April 30, 2008 and the full text before May 31, 2008. All the papers submitted will be peer-reviewed by the Professional Committee of SILF 2008 before the selected few get collected in the print proceedings of the conference for official publication.
